I want a blog (I think)

Table of Contents

Do I? I've been telling myself again and again and again that I need to setup my blog/homepage/personal site/digital garden/whatever. But I lose motivation a lot. Is anything I have to say worth putting out there? Will I be able to sustain the motivation to keep writing, make high quality posts, respond to emails, maintain this site and server, etc etc etc. Who knows, I'm just tired of making excuses and putting it off though so third time's a charm (yes this is my third or fourth attempt at some sort of blog/personal site).

1. What do I need to from a personal site

  • Built using simple minimal tools I enjoy using (plain text, emacs [not minimal but I enjoy it], vim, org mode, not Hugo)
  • Minimal. Not bloated. Not hard to maintain.
  • Flexible. I want to be able to add whatever I want to it without some framework getting in the way.
  • Freedom to say whatever I want. And talk about whatever I want. This could be technology, baking, music, or just personal thoughts.
